The mission of The Cancer Network is to improve the lives of LGBTQIA+ cancer survivors and those at risk by:

EDUCATING the LGBTQIA+ community about our increased cancer risks and the importance of screening and early detection.

TRAINING health care providers to offer more culturally-competent, safe and welcoming care.

ADVOCATING for LGBTQIA+ survivors in mainstream cancer organizations, the media and research.

Pillars of Work

The Cancer Network is part of a larger ecosystem of healthcare, social support, and community based organizations working to improve the lives of LGBTQIA+ people. Our part in this larger picture consists of the following pillars of work:

Direct Patient Services

including risk reduction campaigns, pre-/during/post-cancer resources, and support services.

Defending Public Health

by working collaboratively with strategic partners, advocating for policy change, and conducting surveillance activities

Training and Technical Assistance Services

geared towards healthcare professionals seeking education on LGBTQIA+ health, creating welcoming environments, the cancer continuum of care, and best practices for patient safety.
